This is the cover of the original driving book, written in 1988, and was the genesis for the present day Driving Techniques book. The original book was written for the Law Enforcement community. Throughout the last 28 years the book morphed into a driving book for the public.
The original book discussed, Vehicle Dynamics for EVOC Instructors, High Speed Driving, Pursuit, and Police Vehicles. The Laws of Physics have not changed in the past 28 years, so the science of driving remains the same, but I am sure we can all agree that cars have changed considerably. Also in that time there has been a great deal of research conducted, and data collected that allows us to better understand how drivers make decisions.
Police Driver.com is updating the Police Driving Book and will be available in early summer.
New subjects include:
- Exercise Design
- Evaluating Driving Exercises
- Evaluating driver performance
- SUV’s as Training Vehicles
- Measuring student capability via instrumentation
- Student Testing and Evaluation
- Training Equipment
- Skid Pad Evaluation
- The Effect of Vehicle Characteristics on Training and Performance
- Training with high CG vehicles
Also PoliceDriver.Com (PDC) will offer a series of topic specific webinars based on the New Police Driving Techniques Book.
The webinars are an online training event that is hosted by PDC and broadcasted to the PDC community through their computers via the Internet. A key feature of the Webinar is its interactive elements — the ability to give, receive and discuss information. Our webinars allow the presenters to share with our audience, presentations, videos, web pages or other multimedia content, interact through live chat for Q&A, as well as polls and surveys.
Sign up for the PDC newsletter and receive regular updates on police driver training, vehicle dynamics, industry research, educational events, and new products.
